Blair Witch is a 2016 horror film written by Simon Barrett and directed by Adam Wingard (of You're Next and The Guest fame), and a direct sequel to The Blair Witch Project. Two decades after the disappearance of student filmmaker Heather Donahue, new footage is found in the woods of Burkittsville, Maryland and posted online. Titled, simply, Blair Witch, the found footage movie stars James Allen McCune (Showtime’s Shameless) as the brother of Heather Donahue’s character from the original 1999 horror film, A fourth cinematic entry in the Blair Witch franchise is reportedly in the works. According to Production Weekly, horror filmmaker Oliver Park is attached to direct an "untitled Blair Witch sequel" for Lionsgate.
